Western FAQs Print
  • We play at Cardinal run park, one of the newest facilities in Lexington. We have 3 designated practice fields, 6 ball fields under lights, and batting cages.
  • Western is part of the original Little League Baseball, formed in 1939 in Williamsport, Pennsylvania. It offers the opportunity to play in the Little League World Series as seen on ESPN in early August. Western is Kentucky's first Little League representatives in the Little League World Series.

  • Western is expanding our boundaries to make sure more kids get to play Little League Baseball (Nicholasville Road North to Paris Pike). There are no boundaries for regular season play. Only Little League sanctioned All-Stars fall in that boundary.
  • We have excellent parental involvement, excellent coaching, and excellent facilities which makes Western Little League the place for your child to learn, compete and excel in Little League Baseball.
  • At Western Little League everyone plays. In Little League you must play two innings and get one at bat. In Minor League you can only sit out a total of two innings. In Rookie League everyone bats. In T-Ball everyone plays in the field and bats. Western Little League believes participation is the best way to develop young athletes.
  • 35 former Western Little Leaguers are currently on high school baseball teams in the Lexington area.
  • We have weekly clinics that emphasize fundamental baseball skills.
  • During the season, Western has a Live and Silent Auction which serves as our major fundraiser. This fun-filled evening event allows parents and coaches an opportunity to get out and mingle with other coaches and parents.
  • At the end of the season Western has a picnic second to none. Last year over 600 players, parents and grandparents attended. At this time trophies are handed out as well as team awards. Last year Western had 28 teams in its Little League program.
