AGE DIVISIONS
Children are divided into different divisions based upon their Age before May 1st during the Spring Baseball Season. Ages for playing Fall Ball are based on the upcoming Spring Baseball Season.

FALL BALL
The Fall season is focused on teaching fundamentals and player development. The League will incorporate Clinics to help improve player skill levels. The emphasis is development. Each player will automatically be grouped by age, unlike the Spring Season where you have to try out. If a parent really wants their child to “play up” an age Division based on their skill level, please request that on the Registration Form. All games are played on week nights, with weekends off. Ages are based on the upcoming Spring Ball season.

Majors: Ages 11-12
The Majors Division offers all players a chance to learn and play baseball at Little League’s highest level. Each player will have the opportunity to play every position during the Fall Season. The Fall Season gives current Majors players a chance to further enhance their skills and readies current Minors players for the following Spring Season. All Majors players will receive a cap and shirt to keep. Questions can be sent to majors@westernlexll.com.

Minors:
Ages 9-10

The Minors Division allows players to improve their batting skills, defensive skills, overall baseball knowledge, and learn how to pitch. Minors is the first Division where batters hit off of players pitching. The Minors Fall Season is comprised of first year Minors players and those coming up from Rookie that will play Minors in the Spring Season. All Minors players receive a cap and shirt to keep. Questions can be sent to minors@westernlexll.com.

Rookie: Ages 7-8
Players learn the fundamentals of batting off a pitcher, fielding, and gain confidence and ability. Coaches pitch to kids so they can learn to see the ball coming out of a pitcher’s hand. The Rookie Fall Season is comprised of first year Rookie players and those coming up from Tee Ball that will play Rookie in the Spring Season. All Rookie players receive a cap and shirt to keep. Questions can be sent to rookie@westernlexll.com.

Tee Ball: Ages 4-6
Players now turning 4 by the start of the upcoming Spring Season are eligible to play at Western in the Fall. Tee Ball is a beginning division where players learn the basic fundamentals of throwing, fielding, hitting, and the basic rules of baseball. The batter hits a ball off a stationary tee. All Tee Ball players receive a cap and shirt to keep. Questions can be sent to teeball@westernlexll.com.

SPRING SEASON
The Spring Season is a traditional competitive season. Division standings are kept, there are playoff tournaments in each of the divisions, and teams winning their division (both regular season and during the playoffs) are given trophies at the end-of-the-year closing ceremonies. All-Star teams are also formed at the end of the season, who will go on to compete for their chance to go to the Little League World Series in Williamsport, PA.

Majors: Age 9-12
Consists of the most experienced players at Western. Excellent coaching prepares these players for the next level of baseball. Games consist of six innings and all players play and bat during a game. All aspects of baseball are taught as well as the strategy of the game.

Minors:  Ages 9-11
Prepares players to move up to Little League. Coaches start to work on individual skills such as hitting, defense and pitching. Games consist of six innings. Kids learn to pitch during the week. On the weekends, coaches concentrate more on teaching hitting through coach pitch games. Players are allowed to steal bases and learn the art of base running during kid pitch games during the week.

Rookie: Ages 7-8
Allows players to grow after Tee Ball. Coaches pitch to kids so they can learn to see the ball coming out of a pitcher’s hand. They learn to follow the ball all the way into the catcher’s mitt. They learn the fundamentals of the game such as fielding, hitting, throwing and defense. Games last six innings and all players bat and play in the field.

Tee Ball: Ages 4-6
Lets children and parents have the experience of learning a game together. Tee Ball will introduce children to running bases, hitting off of a tee, fielding balls and catching popups. Games last one hour and we do keep score. All children play in the field and bat. A safety ball is used at this level and all children wear a batting helmet when hitting and running bases.
